What is computer?

Computer is an Electronic Device.

Why we call it as Electronic Machine?

Inside a Computer we find Circuits, which are, consists of Electronic components like register, capacitor, diode, transistor chips etc.

Where do you find Computers?

We Find Computers in every field,

Eg.

• Business
• Factories
• Banking
• Power Industry
• Printing
• Telephone and Communication Industry
• Medicine and Bio Technology
• Space Travel
• Traffic Control
• and even at our House.

However, we have number of machines & Devices surrounding us, which can be used, for either one or two purpose or the purposes are similar to one another.
On the other hand, computers can be used for number of purposes. Now day’s computers are being used for hundred together purposes. Therefore, computer is a Multipurpose Machine.

What is the main reason behind invention of Computers?

The main reason behind invention of computer is simplification of calculation. In our daily life, number of calculation involves. Right from morning to evening our brain does hundreds together calculations. But these calculations are general.
Now we are going towards sophistication. We need train, TV, Tape, Airplane, mobiles and number items. However, all these involve number of calculation that too scientific calculations.

The need of the hour is that, we have to do the calculations with

• Speed
• Accuracy
• With less human effort.

But we human being are not able to do all these things efficiently. Therefore we prefer machines. The effort for inventing computers is not recent one. Since Industrial revolution in 18th century work load increased in each activity and the main motto was to simplifying the calculations, as every activity involves calculation that too heavy and scientific one. Therefore number of methods, devices and machine invented.
In this effort Computers are the ultimate machines.

When was The First Computer Invented?

Unfortunately this question has no easy answer because of all the different classifications and computers. Therefore this document has been created with a listing of each of the first computers starting with the first programmable computer leading up to the computers of today. Keep in mind those early inventions such as the abacus, calculators, tablet machines, difference machine, etc.
Charles Babbage is considered the father of modern digital computers. He designed “Difference Engine” in 1822.

How this machine got name as Computer?

This word Computer has come from a Greek word Compute
Compute = to Calculate
Computer = Calculator
This definition says that computer is a calculator.
